VANHOUCKE MARIO

Mario Vanhoucke obtained his degree in ‘Commercial Engineering’ (Handelsingenieur) and his PhD at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Since September 2001, he is professor in the ‘Operations and Technology Management Center’ at the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School (www.vlerick.be)), and at the ‘Faculty of Economics and Business Administration’ of the Ghent University (www.feb.ugent.be)). He is advisor of three doctoral students: Dieter, Broos and Vincent. His main research interest is in resource-constrained project scheduling, project monitoring and scheduling applications for health care purposes. The methodology used is optimization through branch-and-bound, meta-heuristics and simulation.

MAENHOUT BROOS

In 2002, Broos Maenhout obtained a degree in 'Applied Economics - option Technical Business Administration’ at the Ghent University. In July 2003, he graduated in the 'Master in Operations and Technology Management'. In September 2003, he started a PhD on health-care optimization, under the guidance of Prof. M. Vanhoucke. His main research area is the well-known nurse scheduling problem under different assumptions.

VAN PETEGHEM VINCENT

In 2002, Vincent Van Peteghem obtained a degree in 'Applied Economics - option Technical Business Administration’ at the Ghent University. Between 2002 and 2005, he was a research and teaching assistant at the department of accountancy and finance. From November 2005, he started a PhD at the Ghent University and the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, under the guidance of Prof. M. Vanhoucke.
